.c. to boston today. and plenty of snow in the back end behind it. we use this model to show us where the worst winds will be. what you need to look at is the red arrows. and those red arrows go from the boston area, north into maine, all the way to atlanta. this storm has big snowfall totals, big-time. 20 inches of snow coming down in some locations. and one of those places, williamsburg, iowa, picked up a good, heavy snowstorm and a blizzard. our ginger zee is right there. good morning, ginger. >> sam, we're tried desperately to get to chicago, just couldn't do it. i-80 kept shutting down. you can see why. this is what litters the side of the highway everywhere. trucks, semi-trucks. it was such a rough night and really, this storm isn't quite done with us yet. overnight, the lashing winds and blowing snow stretched from nebraska to michigan. major highways across the midwest, shut down. as drivers struggled to stay on them. believe it or not, this is i-80. look at the long line of cars. just a complete parking lot. we've been here for at least 30 minutes. and we don't know how long we're goin

as a joint u.s. afghan special team went in to save the life of dr. dilip joseph, an american doctor who was kidnapped two days before with two members of his afghan staff. the staff was released earlier when a small ransom was made but the taliban was asking for $100,000 for dr. joseph's release. general john allen felt that his life was in imminent danger and then called for the rescue mission as special operations team lured the taliban in, saying they would pay the ransom. the taliban came. instead, they were met by this team who killed at least six taliban insurgents. unfortunately, this u.s. navy s.e.a.l. also lost his life. his identity has not yet been released but he is being labeled a hero by the top brass in washington, including secretary of defense leon panetta and president barack obama who in a statement said he gave his life for his fellow americans and he and his teammates remind us once more of the selfless service that allows our nation to stay strong, safe and free. the american navy s.e.a.l. sacrifice has not been lost on dr. joseph's family who, in a statement relea

are waking up with mostly clear skies, some of us to near freezing and some of that fog is dense. i will take a look at it coming up. >> two teens were arrested overnight after a pipe bomb was set off inside a mailbox in a neighborhood. we are live now with more on the damage caused. >> reporter: it all started a report about an explosion in pleasant hill, close to the sun valley mall. what exploded was a pipe bomb somebody putin side that mailbox. that's what is left of it. nobody in the neighborhood was hurt but several residents reported seeing a red suv leaving the area. police spotted that suv outside college park high school and found another pipe bomb inside the vehicle. the bomb squad came out to set off the second pipe bomb. nobody was hurt. police found five teens who had been driving around in that red suv. two of them were arrested. they were cooperative and one admitted to making the pipe bombs. >> this was a significant pipe bomb. all the damage you that may expect there was -- the mailbox was destroyed. anybody had been close they would have been hurt and possibly killed. >>

at coldwell banker are filling us in on the details of what the ultra luxury buyer is looking for. >> hi, my name is chris cortazzo with coldwell banker, here in malibu, california, home to some of the most luxurious properties in the world, notwithstanding some of the best weather, as well. i am here today to talk about the luxury market report. it looks like the home buying of the ultra luxurious consumer. location is the number one criteria. however, there are some new trends which are occurring, which are exciting for our marketplace. so who is being ultra luxury consumer? 72% are local, many are entrepreneurs, 54% are married with children, 39% of international buyers are coming from asia, and 62% are between 45 to 52 years old. in greenwich, conn., and in california, most are married with children, but in miami, they are more likely to be high- net-worth entrepreneurs. the report also asks, what interests the ultra luxury consumer when it comes to real estate? it should be no surprise that 79% of the agents say it is location that is the most important aspect for the ultra luxury buyer

, senator mcconnell, later today. that shows us kind of where things stand. i wanted to break this down simply because there's so much that complicates the story. let's look really quickly at a graphic of the basics, what's happening right now. here's where we stand with the fiscal cliff. first of all, who's doing the negotiating? ice the top two senators, senator reid for the democrats, senator mcconnell for the republican, and it is their staff who are working out details right now. what are they talking about? mainly trying to find a way to avoid those tax hikes for most americans. that could also include an extension of unemployment benefits. what is unclear is whether other things such as budget cuts eliminating that sequester that's coming up or other things will be in that deal. when will all of this happen? the soon they could vote is tomorrow, but leadership tells us that they are just hoping to get the outlines of a deal to their members tomorrow so a vote also possible monday. that's when senator reid has said he wants the vote to hap n happen. again, just to be clear, we do
